| CMU Rales Fellowship Program The Carnegie Mellon University Rales Fellows Program is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of STEM leaders and drive innovation by increasing access to a life-changing graduate education. By removing financial barriers to obtaining advanced degrees and providing Fellows with holistic support, the Rales Fellows Program empowers and connects scholars with others who share a passion for progress and innovation. The CMU Rales Fellows Program provides graduate students with full tuition as well as a stipend to cover living expenses such as housing and health insurance. Fellows also benefit from an ecosystem of holistic opportunities to ensure their success as they work to develop into future STEM leaders, including comprehensive, cohort-based onboarding, dedicated career services, faculty mentoring, networking programs, and opportunities to build leadership skills in local and global communities. |
| GEM Fellowship Program GEM offers MS and Ph.D. level students an outstanding opportunity and access to dozens of the top Engineering and Science firms and Universities in the nation. The GEM Fellowship was designed to focus on promoting opportunities for individuals to enter industry at the graduate level in areas such as research and development, product development, and other high level technical careers. GEM also offers exposure to a number of opportunities in academia. During the 2021-22 academic year, Carnegie Mellon University is supporting more than 100 GEM Fellows, including 89 students in engineering and 12 students in other schools and colleges. This represents one of the largest GEM institutions in the country. |
| CyberCorps® Scholarship for Service (SFS) * for Information Networking Institute students only Funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and co-sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the SFS program gives students from participating organizations scholarship funds in exchange for service in the federal government for a period equivalent to the length of their scholarship. Eligible students enrolled in information security master’s programs at CMU, such as the INI’s M.S. in Information Security (MSIS) program, have the opportunity to participate in the National Science Foundation (NSF) CyberCorps® Scholarship for Service (SFS) program |
Summer Research Opportunity @ CMU
![]() The Summer Program for Undergraduate Research (SPUR) program allows talented undergraduates to spend 8 weeks during the summer in a research laboratory at Carnegie Mellon University. Each student will receive a fellowship stipend of $3,000 and apartment-style housing will be provided. Guidance and supervision of the research project will be provided by a faculty member as well as, in some cases, a postdoctoral fellow and/or advanced graduate student. You will explore robotics labs and topics, meet with leaders in the field, attend workshops, be coached and mentored, present and publish your research, and grow as a scholar. ![]() OurCS is 3 day research-focused workshop aims to improve gender balance in computing research. Undergraduate students from the USA and around the globe are encouraged to explore research. Students will work on exploratory problems in teams led by researchers from industry, academia and other computing related domains. Workshop participants will have a chance to work in a team, work hands-on with researcher, present a poster, and learn about life in graduate school from the perspectives of current graduate students.
